San Lorenzo Market: Testing the Quality of Leather

Piazza San Lorenzo is lined with vendors selling  leather goods, scarves and other souvenirs. A visit in Florence is not complete without at least a walk through the market. While it may often be packed with tourists, the market is the perfect opportunity to explore the fine leather goods that come from Italy. However, not all items for sale are real, quality leather. The best products are made from calf or lamb skin which will be very soft to touch with a slightly raised feeling. Ask the vendors questions to ensure you are purchasing a quality product for the best price.
