Weren’t expecting the Italian heat? Are you longing to take a cool dip, but you don’t want to miss out on any of the historical wonders? Look no further! Nestled in the Green Heart of Florence’s Cascine park is one of the city’s most beloved hot spots: Le Pavoniere pool.
What’s so historical about a pool, you ask? Le Pavoniere was built at the end of the 18th century by an architect Giuseppe Manetti. Its name derives from the two ornamental cages you will find surrounding the area. The cages were meant to host Pavoni, which is the Italian word for Peacocks.
Nearby you could also easily admire the pyramid-shaped Ice House, the Abbeveratoio del Quercione fountain, the Palazzina Reale and the Amphitheatre, which is a popular summer venue that hosts a variety of concerts and parties.
Today the pool can be found in one of the Medici buildings where you can come and enjoy the heat of the day and later the thrills of the night. For those family vacationers out there, why not let your child have fun at the summer camp hosted by Le Pavionere while you rent a bike to take a nice, relaxing ride around the Cascine Park!
The Pool is open everyday between 10.00 AM and 7.00 PM. If that’s not enough, take a nightly dip between 8:00 PM to midnight. And don’t let hunger interfere with your fun! Le Pavoniere pool also offer you a delicious restaurant venue and a sizzling Wednesday Barbecue.
Enjoy your day, cooling off from the Italian heat over at Le Pavoniere pool!
