Pitti Immagine, organizer of the bi-annual international trade fair, running from January 8 to 11, expects some 70 womenswear brands will be present at Pitti W 11, located at the former Dogana in via Valfonda.
This edition of Pitti has a book-inspired theme, with a special section called Bookswear Mania. Books are a major theme at the fair this year, in an effort to make them fashionable again.
Among the trends at this edition of Pitti W is increased focus on specialist products with a strong identity and personality. New season look out for handmade craft products with a modern twist and international style.
There is also more demand in womenswear for more casual, easier to wear pieces. This trend can be seen in the new “Contemporary” lines of European and American brands. The lines are reasonably priced but with high style content.
Special guest at Pitti W 11 is the eclectic Maison Kitsunè, directed by French-Japanese duo Gildas Loaec and Masaya Kuroki. This multicultural brand is much more than fashion, it is also a record label, producing both clothing and music. Its fine lines and smooth grooves will be celebrated at the ex-Dogana.
Other interesting fashion finds and must-have styles that were spotted at Pitti W were rings that with plants in them, accessories for pets and other funky accessories.
