Get connected: Free and open Wi-Fi in Florence

wi-fi

Whether temporary visitors to Florence or long-term residents, Firenze Wi-Fi as of summer 2013 provides free and open wifi access throughout the city. It is the first Italian city to do so after a change in legislature made this possible. Wifi is available in the city’s main piazzas, like piazza del Duomo, della Signoria and more, although signal strength remains a problem due to the difficulty of diffusion on the narrow streets.

Myriad bars and restaurants throughout the city centre offer wi-fi with purchase (look for the ‘wi-fi’ sign on windows and doors), and you can also access a free wi-fi connection upon registration at the Oblate library (www.bibliotecadelleoblate.it), a great study space in town.
